Chapter 85: Kourin family Bloodline
It was already noon when Kai left the basement while princess-carrying the unconscious Alina covered in a white blanket.
Hearing the sounds of the basement opening, Oliver looked at Kai, who was covered in sweat and had a bad smell covering his body.
Oliver told Kai to go to the bathroom and take Alina with him so that he could wash her body while he prepared some clothes for her.

Kai could see a bitter smile on Oliver's face while he talked about past events.
"Due to Eragon taking the holy blood, the clan was not able to take part in the Heavenly God trial 10,000 years ago and it led to the decline in power and bloodline purity in the following years. Meanwhile, the Aristocrat families became stronger and more influential."
Listening to Oliver's story, Kai could understand how the Kourin clan's decline was related to Eragon's thievery and how it played a role in the creation of the Golden Star Cross as he looked at Oliver.
"Headmaster, what are the Holy Blood and the Heavenly God trial?" asked Kai curiously.
"Holy Blood is a heaven-defying treasure that can only be acquired after completing the Heavenly God trial every 10,000 years. It has a mysterious power that can turn any magic user into a Battle Mage, increase one's cultivation to a great extent or increase a bloodline's purity. But, to take part in the Heavenly God trial, one must be a Battle Archmage at an age younger than 30 years. As my age had already passed 30 back then, I was not able to participate in the previous trial. So, my father planned on giving the opportunity to my second brother, Darvi, who was a spirit magic user when him breaking through to the Magic Warrior stage made him a Battle Archmage. However, due to Eragon, it didn't happen. Eragon was also a Battle Mage," said Oliver bitterly.
