The group couldn't help but move away as they did not have the courage to face the setbacks of their battle.

They were afraid because they could feel that the air around them was getting sharper and it could at least wound them. Mia was an exception to that, she will not get easily wounded by them but she still moved away from them. She would not waste her energy defending them so she chose to leave Keiji and fight with the remaining group.
